Gutter Replacement & Repair
In Bellevue, WA
New seamless gutters formed on site to fit each eave, or a repair when the old system is still sound. Every run measured and the price per foot in writing before anything comes down.
In 2026, seamless aluminum gutters in Bellevue cost $9 to $16 per linear foot to install, with 5-inch at $9 to $13 and 6-inch at $11 to $16. On most two-story houses the gutters come to $2,000 to $3,600, plus downspouts. When the trouble is one leaking corner or one sagging run, a repair in the $150 to $600 range usually takes care of it. Leaks on several sides, split or badly dented metal, and clean gutters that still spill in ordinary rain are the signs it's time for new ones. We measure every run first and give you the price per foot in writing.
A lot of Bellevue is old enough for this question. In the Census Bureau's 2020 to 2024 estimates, the median owner-occupied home in the city was built in 1976, and 30,830 of its 66,021 housing units, about 47 percent, went up before 1980. Seamless aluminum gutters usually last 20 to 30 years, so many of those houses are already on their second set. A set hung around 2000 turns 26 this winter, well into that range.
Atrax Roof and Gutter is a Kirkland company, founded in 2018, and holds Washington L&I contractor license ATRAXRG824NU. We're licensed, bonded and insured. In Bellevue our crews replace gutters, fix them, add guards and clean them out, and new gutter systems from us carry a 20-year workmanship warranty.
Bellevue gutter replacement prices for 2026
These are installed prices for seamless aluminum, the system we put on most houses. The price normally covers pulling the old gutters and hauling them off.
| Item | Price (2026) | Where it fits |
|---|---|---|
| 5-inch seamless aluminum, installed | $9 to $13 per linear ft | One-story roofs and lots without much tree cover |
| 6-inch seamless aluminum, installed | $11 to $16 per linear ft | Most two-story houses, plus long runs and roofs under firs or maples |
| Downspouts | $4 to $7 per linear ft | One at each outlet, sized to match the gutter |
| New gutters with micro-mesh guards | $11 to $18 per linear ft | Lots that drop needles all year |
| Rotted fascia board swapped out | $300 to $800 for a typical section | When the board behind the old gutter won't hold a hanger |
| Repair visit | $150 to $600 | One corner, one outlet or one sagging run on a sound system |
| New length spliced into a sound run | $10 to $20 per linear ft | A split or dented section in an otherwise good run |
To put numbers on a real house: say a 1970s two-story has 200 feet of eave and six downspouts about 16 feet long. In 6-inch gutter the runs cost $2,200 to $3,200 and the 96 feet of downspout $384 to $672, so the total lands around $2,600 to $3,900 before any fascia work. In 5-inch gutter the same runs would be $1,800 to $2,600. Our Bellevue gutter replacement cost guide goes further into what moves a quote, from lot size to roof shape.
Spending less on new gutters without cutting the wrong corners
Plenty of people search for cheap gutter replacement. There are honest ways to pay less, and three of them cover most houses:
- Fix what can still be fixed. If one side of the house has a bad corner and the other three are straight and tight, a repair now and new gutters later costs less.
- Use 5-inch where it works. Over a one-story roof with open sky above it, 5-inch gutters handle the water for about $2 to $3 a foot less than 6-inch.
- Have guards go on with the gutters. Gutters and micro-mesh guards installed together run $11 to $18 a foot, while adding guards to the same gutters later is another $4 to $8 a foot on top of what the gutters cost.
What shouldn't get cheaper is the part you can't see from the driveway: hangers screwed into sound wood, downspouts big enough for the roof, and a look at the fascia before the new runs go up. Those are the corners a low bid tends to cut.
When a repair is enough and when it isn't
A repair makes sense when the problem lives in one place: a corner seam that drips, an outlet packed with needles, one run that has pulled away from the fascia. Everywhere else the system should be straight, with joints that hold and hangers that are tight.
New gutters are the better spend when:
- leaks or sags show up on two or more sides;
- the metal itself is split, corroded or badly dented, not just the sealant at the seams;
- clean gutters overflow along whole runs in ordinary rain, which means they are too small for the roof;
- the fascia needs work on several sides, so the gutters have to come down anyway;
- the same corners have been resealed again and again.
Our visual checklist of nine signs walks through each one, and what a repair visit includes is on our gutter repair page.
Why Bellevue gutters get tested from November to January
The closest NOAA weather station to Bellevue with a 30-year record is at Renton Municipal Airport, about 7.6 miles southwest of the middle of the city. On its 1991 to 2020 normals, November, December and January are the wettest three months of the year: 15.07 inches of rain, or 43 percent of the yearly 34.69.
A half-inch day on a 2,400 square foot roof puts about 750 gallons of water into the gutters. A gutter that's sagging or partly plugged in October usually gives itself away in the first heavy rain, with water over the front edge or a stain running down the siding.
Needles, leaves and Bellevue's tree cover
Bellevue's tree canopy study, based on 2017 imagery, found the city's canopy 61 percent evergreen. So Bellevue gutters collect needles in every month of the year, and in the fall a layer of broadleaf leaves lands on top of them.
Cover varies a lot from one part of the city to another. In the 2017 data, Cougar Mountain/Lakemont (49 percent), Bridle Trails (48), Somerset (45) and Newport (42) had the most, while BelRed had 15 percent and Downtown 10. A house in the first group can need its gutters sized and guarded differently from one a few miles away.
On heavily treed lots, stainless micro-mesh is the guard we install, because its screen is fine enough to stop needles as well as leaves. Over gutters in good shape it costs $4 to $8 a foot. A guard never goes on a gutter that leaks or sags, and guarded gutters still need a yearly check. For a side-by-side of guard types, see our gutter guard installation page. If you skip guards, most Bellevue gutters need cleaning at least in spring and fall, and lots under heavy fir and cedar often need a third visit; our gutter cleaning service in Bellevue covers that.
Sizing new gutters for a Bellevue roof
We size new gutters for the roof and the trees above it, not for whatever was hung there before. Two-story houses, long eaves and lots under heavy cover usually get a 6-inch K-style profile and 3x4-inch downspouts. The 6-inch trough holds roughly 40 percent more than a 5-inch, and the bigger downspout is harder for wet needles to plug. A one-story house with open sky and short runs can stay with 5-inch. Where two roof planes meet in a valley, the corner below it gets its own outlet. The math is in our gutter sizing guide for Pacific Northwest rain, and colors and profiles are on the seamless gutter replacement page.
Where downspout water can go in Bellevue
New gutters only get the water as far as the downspouts. Where it goes from there is a separate question, and Bellevue has rules about it. The city's Surface Water Engineering Standards, written for development projects, state that the discharge of surface water runoff into the sanitary sewer is generally prohibited by the Utility Code, so a downspout should never be tied into a sewer line. Splash-block dispersion is supposed to spread the water over at least 25 feet of vegetation, and that kind of dispersion is generally not allowed in landslide hazard areas, on steep slopes, or within a setback above a steep slope of 10 times its height, up to 500 feet.
If a downspout drops into a buried pipe that ties into the city storm system, repairing or rebuilding that private connection takes a Storm Drainage Connection permit from the city. When we replace gutters, we run water down every downspout that goes underground and tell you which ones don't drain. A broken buried line is quoted separately from the gutters.
How a Bellevue gutter replacement goes
- Measure and test. We measure every eave, run water through the old system and check each downspout, including the ones that go underground.
- Photos and a written price. You get photos of the problem spots and a price per foot in writing, with gutter size, color, downspouts and any fascia work spelled out.
- Formed on site. On install day the new runs are roll-formed in front of the house, cut to each eave, then hung on hidden hangers and pitched toward the outlets.
- Cleanup. The old gutters leave with us and the new ones are flushed before the crew goes home. Most residential replacements are done in a single day.

Bellevue gutter replacement and repair questions
How much does gutter replacement cost in Bellevue, WA?
Seamless aluminum replacement gutters cost $9 to $16 per linear foot installed in 2026: 5-inch at $9 to $13 and 6-inch at $11 to $16. Most two-story houses come to $2,000 to $3,600 for the gutters, with downspouts at $4 to $7 a foot on top. Your final price comes from the measured footage, the size you pick and what shape the fascia is in.
How much does gutter repair cost in Bellevue?
Expect $150 to $600 for most repairs in 2026. At the low end are a plugged outlet ($150 to $300) and a corner seam that drips ($150 to $350), and rehanging a run that sags costs $200 to $450. If a section is split, a new length is $10 to $20 a foot, and soft fascia behind it adds $300 to $800.
What's the cheapest way to get new gutters?
Replace only what has failed and size the rest honestly. If one side is bad and the others are sound, repair now and replace later. Use 5-inch gutters where the roof is small and open, which saves about $2 to $3 a foot over 6-inch, and put guards on with the new gutters instead of adding them later. Cutting the fascia check or the hangers is where cheap jobs go wrong.
Do I need 5-inch or 6-inch gutters?
Go with 6-inch on two-story houses, long runs and anywhere firs or maples hang over the roof. A 6-inch trough takes roughly 40 percent more water, and it works with a 3x4-inch downspout that wet needles have a harder time plugging. A one-story house with open sky above it usually does fine with 5-inch, which costs about $2 to $3 less per foot.
How long does it take to replace gutters on a house?
Most residential replacements take a single day. Because the runs are roll-formed at the house, there is no wait for parts, and the cleanup happens the same day. Fascia repairs or a broken buried drain line can add time, and we point those out when we quote.
Should I replace my gutters before winter?
If they need replacing, yes. November through January is the wettest stretch of the year near Bellevue, with 43 percent of the yearly rain at the Renton Municipal Airport station, so a gutter that leaks or overflows does the most harm then. If the only problem is a clog, a cleaning before the heavy rain is enough.
Where can downspouts drain in Bellevue?
Away from the house and never into the sanitary sewer, which the city's standards say the Utility Code generally prohibits. Splash blocks should spread the water over at least 25 feet of vegetation, and the city generally doesn't allow that on steep slopes or in landslide hazard areas. Repairing or rebuilding a buried line to the storm system takes a Storm Drainage Connection permit from Bellevue.
